If the seventies saw horror relocated within the family, Larry Cohen’s cult film takes this trope to the extreme with its story of a mutant killer baby that goes on a murder spree around Los Angeles. A searing critique of the patriarchy that created this monster child, the film is also a roller coaster ride of horror, featuring special effects by Rick Baker (of An American Werewolf in London fame) and a musical score by Hitchcock-collaborator Bernard Herrmann.
